My life journey began with personal advocacy; and has had a micro-ripple effect in Michigan and around the world. But the next step is to become more than a personal advocate with micro-ripple effect but to work on a macro level.
The difference between a micro and macro advocate is a matter of degree of access. As a legislator, I would have access to the rules of the systems that are faltering or broken. Instead of helping someone navigate an unnecessarily complicated or biased system, I can help change the rules and set more people up for success on a macro level.
